Universal Studios Hollywood is the original theme park in the Universal line up and is the only theme park designed around a currently functioning movie backlot. In fact, the key note ride at this park is a 50 minute long backlot tour that is so much more than just riding around in a tram. The ride has many different thrilling and thematic elements as well as visiting live movie sets as well as sets from some of the most famous movies of all time.
This theme park is setup in such as way that it has an upper lot and lower lot at the bottom of a hill. The upper lot is home to some classic Universal attractions such as The Simpson’s Ride, Terminator 2:3-D, Shrek 3-D, and The Adventures of Curious George. The Lower Lot is home to some classic rides as well as some of the new attractions at Universal. Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride, originally from Universal Orlando in Florida, has recently been added at this park and it thrilling guests in the form of a dark, indoor roller coaster. Also on the lower level is the relatively new Jurassic Park: The Ride where guests travel through the Jurassic Period and have to escape a T-Rex.
Universal Studios Hollywood also includes a smaller version of Universal Orlando’s CityWalk. This area includes shopping, fine fining, and quick service dining. This area is certainly a benefit as the food is superior than most theme parks in the area.
